We are looking for a Senior Database Engineer to join our Cloud Infrastructure Team. We are growing fast and our RDS Aurora database clusters need some love from a skilled expert. This work is a fundamental part of enabling and growing the microservices ecosystem in Brainbase. Our Engineering HQ is located in Tallinn, Estonia but we're looking to hire this role in Poland, preferably in Kraków.

Tasks at hand:

  • Assist in design and development of database systems
  • Optimize database systems for performance and reliability
  • Perform database maintenance and troubleshooting activities
  • Develop database functions, scripts, stored procedures and triggers to support application development
  • Provide technical assistance to resolve all database issues related to performance, capacity and access
  • Manage and monitor performance, capacity and security of database systems
  • Develop, test, maintain, and implement disaster recovery and archive procedures

Your profile:

  • 5+ years of experience in MySQL compatible databases
  • good knowledge of software/database engineering best practices
  • solid understanding of algorithms and data structures
  • experience with database level sharding / partitioning solutions
  • proficiency in AWS cloud 
  • Good English and communication skills

Preferred experience:

  • experience with any orchestration platforms (e.g. Kubernetes)
  • experience with Ansible / Terraform and in scripting languages (Python/Perl/Bash)
  • experience with Grafana family products (Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, Jaeger)
  • experience with any of the CI/CD deploy automation platforms (e.g. AWS code build, Jenkins)
  • experience with load balancers/proxies (e.g. Nginx)
  • a university degree in a technical subject (computer science, math, or similar)
