ABOUT THE TEAMS:The Shuttle team builds next-generation content migration tools that help customers move their data quickly and securely from on-premises systems or competing cloud platforms into Box. This strategic project focuses on improving efficiency, speed, scalability, and ensuring valuable metadata travels with customer files - empowering users to leverage intelligent content management immediately after migration.

The Box Archive team is one of the largest Box customers face legal, regulatory and business mandates around the content they keep in the cloud. On the Compliance Governance team we build simple, but scalable solutions that help them meet those mandates by ensuring control over their content’s lifecycle. Our new project - Box Archive is going to be a key component of that lifecycle, both from the perspective of compliance and user experience, as it allows a new way of retaining and organizing documents and files, making them available whenever needed and also reducing clutter in users’ workspaces. Engineers working on our team daily solve problems that require scaling our systems to Box-wide level and maintaining very high quality standards, which form the baseline for building our customers’ trust.

The Content Capabilities team is new and aims to support significant growth for the Box Content Cloud. We focus on creating innovative platform features that help product teams and customers deliver unique experiences for millions of users. We're nearing the launch of our first set of features, which will enhance collaboration on content. The team has an exciting roadmap ahead with many new capabilities to develop. We are seeking a skilled Backend Software Engineer to join us in tackling challenging problems in content management. Your work will directly impact the productivity of millions at leading enterprises.

The Seat Growth & Retention team is a newly formed, high-impact group dedicated to increasing active users within existing customer accounts. They focus on building innovative tools and features that encourage customers to add more users and licenses. Additionally, they develop monitoring systems that use usage data to identify accounts at risk of churn. Our work directly supports driving user adoption and long-term customer success.

The Device Security team at Box is responsible for protecting access to the company’s Intelligent Content Management platform by ensuring that only trusted devices can connect. Their work is crucial to maintaining Box’s security and compliance, especially as businesses require more advanced controls over user access. This team focuses on building and maintaining secure, reliable systems that support enterprise-level security needs. They collaborate closely with product, security, and infrastructure teams to develop solutions that keep Box’s platform safe from unauthorized device access.

WHY BOX NEEDS YOU?

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer skilled in Python who can contribute across backend services supporting either or both Shuttle’s bulk migration capabilities or Search’s powerful discovery platform. You will work on high-scale distributed systems solving complex challenges related to performance optimization, microservices auto-scaling, data integrity during migrations or search indexing accuracy.

Your contributions will directly impact how thousands of enterprise customers manage their most important business content every day.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Develop new backend features focused on high scale and performance.

• Design and implement auto-scaling solutions for microservices.

• Solve challenges related to distributed systems at scale.

• Measure system performance; identify bottlenecks; optimize accordingly.

• Build internal tools supporting testing automation, deployment pipelines & product support.

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across geographies (Poland & USA).

• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups and sprint planning.

• Contribute code reviews ensuring quality standards are met consistently.

• Participate in our on-call rotation, available at all times while on-call to help respond to and triage any issues that arise.

WHO YOU ARE:

• You have 5+ years of professional software development experience.

• Proficient in Java; familiarity with other scripting languages like Python, Scala or PHP is a plus.

• Experienced working within Linux environments.

• Comfortable working with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.

• Knowledgeable about container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes.

• Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB preferred but not required.

• Strong communicator who meets deadlines reliably while collaborating effectively within teams.

• Passionate about learning new technologies & applying them pragmatically in production environments.

• Fluent English speaker capable of working seamlessly across international teams.
