About the role
As IT Software Asset Manager, you will be the go-to person for managing software licensing across the company. Your work will directly support our IT and Digital strategy by strengthening governance, driving efficiency, and enabling smarter decisions.
This is a role where attention to detail meets big-picture impact. You’ll ensure compliance, bring visibility into usage and costs, and optimize how we work with vendors and contracts. This is a hands-on role where you will need to roll up your sleeves and be hands on in everything from contract negotiations to license controlling. You’ll have the freedom to shape the function, but also the responsibility to make it stick.
Your Responsibilities:
Manage our global portfolio of software licenses, covering both cloud subscriptions and on-prem solutions.
Maintain overview of Software Contracts, and ensure compliance with vendor contracts, audits, and regulatory requirements.
Partner with IT and business teams to understand requirements and align licensing with needs.
Develop processes, reporting, and dashboards that bring visibility to license usage and costs.
Drive vendor negotiations and renewals with data-driven insights
Safeguard compliance with vendor contracts, audits, and regulatory requirements.
Partner with Finance and Procurement to budget, forecast, and optimize license spend.
Stay on top of trends in software licensing, cloud, and SaaS to anticipate risks and opportunities.
Responsible for our SAM Tool
Your Background
Proven experience in IT Asset Management or Software Asset Management.
Strong knowledge of major licensing models (Microsoft, SAP, or similar).
Analytical skills and attention to detail – you understand the fine print and spot opportunities.
Strong collaboration and communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to engage with stakeholders across IT, Finance, Procurement, and business units.
Ability to translate complex license terms into clear business language.
Proactive mindset with the curiosity to improve processes and prevent problems before they happen.

Practicalities
Blue Water Shipping is headquartered in Esbjerg, Denmark. Blue Water IT is split across multiple locations, with the main locations being Esbjerg, Denmark, and our IT-Hub in Gdansk where this role will be based. The IT-Hub in Gdansk has been created to support the ambitious Digital growth strategy that Blue Water shipping has embarked on towards 2030.
