Senior data engineer (databricks) - Nykredit

We are searching for a Data Engineer!

This position is based at our friendly office in Warsaw, Poland and you will join our Nykredit Wealth Technology. The Market Data Products team is providing comprehensive tech solutions and robust IT support for sourcing, validation and distribution of Market Data to meet the evolving data needs across Nykredit bank.

The Data Engineer role offers opportunity to learn and develop new cloud based solutions and technologies (such as Microsoft Fabric, Confluent Cloud Kafka, Apache Spark, Terraform), take part in multiyear re-platforming project and work with skilled colleagues in good atmosphere. At BEC, we prefer to collaborate often in the office, but we also keep the opportunity to work remotely up to 8 days per month. Your direct manager will be Tomasz Kowalski.

Primary task and responsibilities include:

• Develop and extend data transformation pipelines using Microsoft Fabric, Apache Spark, and Python (60%)

• Maintain and monitor Spark streaming platform and infrastructure (5%)

• Integrate market data from external vendors via Confluent Cloud Kafka and Azure Event Hub (15%)

• Align with business stakeholders and external partners on data requirements (10%)

• Incorporate new features from Microsoft Fabric into existing pipelines (5%)

• Maintain CI/CD pipelines and contribute to platform development (5%)

• Collaborate with software engineers, data engineers, architects, and market data specialists

To succeed you will have: 

• 4+ years of experience as a data engineer

• Proficiency in Python, Apache Spark, SQL, and data management concepts (e.g., SCD, schema evolution, medallion architecture)

• Experience with CI/CD (GitHub), data optimization

• A curious mind with an open nature and desire to knowledge-share with others

• Strong team collaboration skills

• Fluent English (written and spoken)

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

It’s nice-to-have:

• Additional language skills like C# or Java are a plus

• Experience with structured streaming, Azure AD, Kafka, Terraform, Shell scripting

• Sector knowledge in financial or market data domains

• Experience working on distributed data platforms and cloud-native architectures

• Strong documentation and presentation skills
