Job description

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer who is ready to make an impact!

You will be a part of one of the delivery teams within the Data, Analytics and Reporting Division. We are responsible for developing BI & Analytics solutions for the Danish banking sector.

In this position, you will join a team of 8 people based in Poland and Denmark, consisting of developers, a scrum master, a team architect and a development manager, working together to build our new Databricks-based data platform within a modern, cloud environment. You will be expected to challenge the existing frameworks and be a driver of shaping the ways of working on a new data platform. Your expertise will be crucial in expanding the Databricks skillset and driving its adoption.

Most of the team members are data engineers with backgrounds in transactional databases, data warehouses, and business intelligence. We’ve evolved from SQL Server → Netezza → Databricks and are now live with a modern, metadatadriven data platform. Our work spans diverse, pioneering initiatives with a strong focus on innovation, automation, and leveraging AI capabilities.

Currently our main focus is to build the new, modern data products that will serve as an attractive alternative to the currently existing solutions. We work closely with Data Stewards who provide the Information Models. Using these, we build Data Vault 2.0 and Star Schema-modelled products, which are then made available through the Marketplace.

Our new platform is built on Azure and Databricks, designed to support:

  • Metadata-driven automation

  • Data contracts and governance

  • Multiple integration channels: APIs, events, batch

  • Set the direction as the team’s Databricks thought leader

  • Redefine existing frameworks and build the ones to come

  • Act as a technical leader driving the data transformation

  • Prepare technical requirements and architecture

  • Develop, test and review the code

  • Collaborate across teams (SAFe)

  • Work with Team Architect for architectural guidance

  • Understand the legacy stack to help modernize and redefine it.

To succeed you will have:

  • 8 years of experience in Data Warehousing/Business Intelligence

  • 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer

  • 2 years of experience in Databricks

  • Advanced skills in Python and SQL, with the ability to design and optimize complex solutions

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to keep the big picture in view

  • A structured and adaptable mindset in a fast‑changing environment

  • A passion for agile methods and continuous learning

  • With colleagues in teams distributed in Denmark and Poland, you must master English at a high level both in writing and orally.

We are looking for someone curious, courageous, and ready to challenge the status quo. At BEC you’ll join a community of ambitious, techsavvy people who love to explore and grow!
