Senior Software Engineer

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Programming and Build

  • Collaborate with others to review user stories and code.

  • Develop implementation approaches.

  • Design, code, test, and document programs or scripts of medium-to-high complexity using agreed standards and tools.

• Systems Design

  • Design systems with medium levels of risk, impact, and complexity.

  • Select and apply appropriate design standards, methods, and tools.

  • Review others’ system designs for technology selection, resource efficiency, and integration.

• Systems Integration

  • Define integration build.

  • Coordinate build activities across systems.

  • Support integration testing activities.

• Modern Standards Approach

  • Apply modern standards approach and guide others.

• Information Security

  • Maintain strong understanding of information security.

  • Design solutions with embedded security controls and threat mitigation.

• Prototyping

  • Treat prototyping as a team activity.

  • Establish and iterate design patterns.

  • Use appropriate prototyping methods.

• Service Support

  • Identify, locate, and fix faults.

• User Focus

  • Collaborate with user researchers and represent users internally.

  • Explain user needs vs. desires.

  • Champion user research for all users.

  • Prioritize and define approaches to understand user stories.

  • Recommend best tools and methods.

• Availability and Capacity Management

  • Manage service components to meet business needs and performance targets.

Qualifications & Competencies (education, skills, experience):

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or related field.

• 5+ years as a software engineer.

• Proficiency in full-stack application development with Java, JavaScript and React

• Deep understanding of SDLC and methodologies (Agile, Scrum).

• Proficiency in software design and architecture.

• Experience with version control systems (Git).

• Ability to write clean, maintainable, efficient code.

• Familiarity with IDEs (Visual Studio, IntelliJ IDEA, Eclipse).

• Knowledge of CI/CD tools and practices, with preference of GitHub Actions.

• Advanced understanding of database management and SQL.

• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.

• Experience with microservices architecture and RESTful API design.

• Experience with automated testing frameworks and tools.

• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, in particular)

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred

• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Expertise in areas like machine learning, cybersecurity, or mobile development.
