Senior Cloud Engineer AWS 

We are looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer with AWS! 

We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Engineer to join our agile development team working on a cutting-edge AWS-based platform operating under Good Practice (GxP) regulatory constraints. This role is key to ensuring that our platform meets high quality standards and maintains compliance with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device industry regulations.

PHIL (Pharmacometrics Integration Landscape) provides Bayer’s Model-Informed Drug Development Department and other stakeholders with

• The ability to prepare and execute a broad range of scientific modelling activities with a variety of general-purpose development capabilities and additional specialized software

• GxP-compliant data storage with versioning and traceability

• Reproducibility of modelling results over extended time periods

• Scalable compute resources to generate validated, submission-relevant results

PHIL is a mission-critical platform for Bayer’s ability to develop new drug candidates and to achieve approval by regulatory authorities.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Design, develop and document infrastructure required to enable new platform capabilities (using IaC) following the well-architected framework standards

• Maintenance of the current infrastructure so the application keeps working reliably and efficiently

• Troubleshoot performance and connectivity issues on the application backend

• Develop and configure scripts to install user required software on virtual machines and Docker containers

• Collaborate with product managers, developers and platform users to evaluate new technologies & co-create PoCs

• Develop and maintain CICD workflows to securely deploy both infrastructure and application-level assets

• Help with Sysadmin tasks to troubleshoot issues on both Windows and Linux environments

WHO YOU ARE:

Required:

• Proficiency in core AWS services, for example including: ECS, AWS Batch, ImageBuilder, EFS, Cognito, Lambda, RDS, AppSync and API Gateway

• Strong networking knowledge (subnetting, security, routing, connectivity troubleshooting)

• Strong knowledge of network storage protocols and limitations

• Strong knowledge of containerization

• Experience in scripting languages like Bash and Powershell

• Experience working with AWS CLI and Boto3

• General programming skills with languages ​such as Python

• Experience with building and maintaining complex CICD pipelines

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments with a DevOps approach

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Preferred:

• Familiarity with computer architecture principles like memory hierarchy, spatial locality and temporal locality.

• Familiarity with HPC environments and distributed computation (especially MPI and OMP)

• Sysadmin experience setting up unattended installations and configurations both for windows environments and Linux environments
