Role description

We are a compact, high-performing IT team driving a fintech startup focused mainly on automating highway toll payments and e-vignette sales. Our backend squad maintains a robust infrastructure handling high-volume transactions and integrations with banking systems and highway operators. We combine the stability of proven solutions with the agility of modern microservices, relying heavily on Kafka for asynchronous communication. We value autonomy, technical excellence, and a proactive approach to system reliability.

As a Java Developer, you will play a key role in scaling our core products. You will work on expanding our microservices ecosystem while ensuring the stability of our central application. This role requires navigating between maintaining high-availability systems and designing new, scalable features in the cloud. You will be directly involved in the full development lifecycle - from estimating tasks to deployment and monitoring.

• designing and developing scalable microservices using Java and Spring Boot,
• maintaining and optimizing the core application based on JEE,
• collaborating closely with Front-end Developers, the Product Owner, DevOps, and ICT teams to deliver high-quality solutions,
• integrating with external APIs (Banks, Highway Operators, Partners),
• writing unit and integration tests to ensure system stability,
• participating in technical analysis and estimation of new functionalities.

What We're Looking For:

• min. 3 years of commercial experience in Java development,
• strong knowledge of Java 11+, Spring Boot,
• experience with Apache Kafka or other message brokers (we use it heavily for async processes),
• proficiency in SQL (PostgreSQL or similar) and ORM frameworks (Hibernate/JPA),
• practical knowledge of AWS services and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS),
• ability to estimate tasks realistically and work in a team focused on delivery,
• very good command of English (min. B2 for documentation and reading technical specs).

Nice to have:

• knowledge of Agile methodologies,
• experience with relational databases storing large datasets, including query optimization and database performance tuning techniques,
• experience working with containers and cloud services (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS).
