Our client is a dynamic and fast-growing fintech startup with a passionate and experienced team, backed by significant pre-seed funding and strategic investors. It enables banks to embed their payment products directly into e-commerce checkout, creating a trusted and more secure bank-branded payment experience. It is a remote-first company with team members across Europe.

It is currently engaged in launching its initial product with its first paying customers, and this is an opportunity to help it scale and lead it into the next phase of development.

We're looking for a Lead Engineer to join the team! In this role, you'll play a key part in shaping both the product's evolution and the development of the engineering team, processes, and culture. In this role, you will be expected to be able to work independently while collaborating with key stakeholders and customers to drive the product development past the MVP stage.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Work with the CTO to build the technical roadmap and drive architectural decisions for scalability and performance
• Lead development efforts, maintaining and enhancing the product using best practices
• Optimize integrations with e-commerce platforms, financial institutions, and embedded checkouts
• Drive security and reliability standards by implementing industry best practices
• Help hire, mentor, and support engineers as we grow the team
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to the development of the software architecture
• Collaborate with leadership to align tech and business goals as we scale

The company expects from you:

• 5+ years of hands-on full-stack development experience, ideally with a significant focus on Node.js and TypeScript
• Experience scaling a product from MVP to high-traffic production
• Experience with web frameworks like Express.js, Nest.js, or Fastify.js
• Strong knowledge of DB technologies - SQL/NoSQL; familiarity with SQL and ORM/ODM software
• Knowledge of front-end JavaScript frameworks like React, Vue or Angular
• Experience with cloud infrastructure like GCP, AWS or Azure
• Familiarity with e-commerce platforms (Shopify, WooCommerce) and financial APIs/Open Banking is a plus
• Experience leading projects or teams
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Experience with security-driven development (SSDLC) and security compliance frameworks such as SOC2
