Data Engineer – B2B Contract (Hybrid – Kraków or Warsaw)

📍 Location: Hybrid – 6 days per month on-site (preferably Kraków or Warsaw)📄 Contract type: B2B (Business-to-Business)🕒 Start date: ASAP

🔍 Role Overview

This position is part of a Global Defence team within Cybersecurity, dedicated to enabling the organization to operate securely worldwide through vigilance, innovation, reliability, intelligence, and a mission-driven approach. The role focuses on the Network Security program, which includes several projects. The primary project relevant to this role is the Unified Policy Portal (UPP).

UPP is designed to assist IT service owners in recertifying firewall rules related to their IT services' connections. Managing firewall rules has historically been challenging due to the company’s size and the technical nature of the task. UPP addresses this by offering a user-friendly interface, enabling IT service owners to attest to connections at a higher, more comprehensible level.

The successful candidate will join the Data & Automation team within the Network Security program. This team includes data engineers, data analysts, machine learning engineers, and application developers who collaboratively deliver technical capabilities, primarily using the Azure Databricks platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain secure CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment solutions.

  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to integrate security best practices into the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and ensure compliance with controls such as DEPL.

  • Design and deploy Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Ansible, G3, Terraform, and Azure DevOps.

  • Implement security controls, monitoring, and threat detection across cloud and on-premise environments.

  • Automate compliance and security checks following DevSecOps principles.

  • Work with development teams to ensure secure coding and address vulnerabilities.

  • Support security incident response by providing automation and tools for log analysis and remediation.

  • Optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability through proactive monitoring and tuning.

  • Maintain and improve container security and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Stay current with emerging DevOps and cybersecurity tools, trends, and best practices.

Required Skills:

  • Experience in DevOps, Development, or Infrastructure Engineering roles with a strong focus on security.

  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible, G3, Terraform, or Azure DevOps.

  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

  • Solid understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm).

  • Experience troubleshooting Linux systems (e.g., Red Hat).

  • Self-motivated, well-organized, and capable of effective cross-team communication.

  • Excellent time management with a focus on delivering high-priority tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong experience building and debugging CI/CD pipelines.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP, and their security best practices.

  • Experience with front-end automation frameworks (vanilla JavaScript, React, Angular).

  • Cybersecurity certifications related to SSL, SSO, Firewalls, or Networking.
