Data Security Engineer SME

Location: [Cracow/ Warsaw - 6 days x month on-site)

About the Role:We are looking for an experienced Data Security Engineer SME to join our Client team and support the delivery and operational strategy of Client global information security initiatives. In this role, you will act as a subject matter expert, working closely with various stakeholders to implement and maintain effective security controls in line with global policies and regulatory requirements.

You will be a key player in ensuring data security across the organization by supporting tools implementation, collaborating on enterprise-wide IT strategies, and monitoring security risk exposure as part of a first line of defense function.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery and operational strategy across global security initiatives.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and key representative for data security topics.
  • Implement tooling and controls to ensure compliance with global information security policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate on the implementation of enterprise-wide and regional/business-level IT strategies.
  • Ensure global compliance with information security requirements through effective control measures.
  • Maintain visibility of IT security risk profiles and control effectiveness, and challenge breaches in risk appetite.
  • Engage with global and regional cybersecurity stakeholders across architecture, shared services, engineering, and IT functions.

 

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • 4–5 years of experience in Cybersecurity or IT-related roles.
  • Proven experience in operational management, utilizing tools and techniques to deliver consistent results.
  • Background in IT Service Management and ITIL methodologies, particularly in Service Continuity, Change, and Incident Management.
  • Strong product knowledge and hands-on experience with Data Discovery and Encryption technologies.
  • Experience with tools such as Protegrity, Symantec/Broadcom Data Discovery, Veritas Data Insight, or similar.
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and standards, including EU data security/privacy acts, CIS, and NIST.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to various audiences.
  • Strong decision-making abilities and the capacity to evaluate risks and recommend appropriate actions.
