Data Engineer – Data & Analytics

Location: Kraków, Poland (hybrid, 2x per week in the office)

Contract: Full-time

About the Role

A leading financial institution is building a world-class, data-driven organization and is seeking a Data Engineer to join their Wholesale Data & Analytics team. You will help design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions, contributing to a revolutionary analytics ecosystem that generates actionable insights from diverse data sources.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, build, and test complex data products and pipelines using Big Data technologies.

• Analyze, profile, and synthesize data from multiple sources to provide actionable insights.

• Design and implement resilient, scalable data integration solutions.

• Model data using industry-recognized patterns, including Star Schema, Slowly Changing Dimensions, and CDC.

• Automate data flows and real-time pipelines with Apache NiFi and Apache Kafka.

• Apply best practices in Python, SQL, and related programming languages (DRY, KISS, SOLID, Clean Code).

• Manage metadata and support data governance across the team.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to ensure data solutions meet requirements.

• Maintain operational risk and compliance controls according to regulatory standards.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of IT experience, with 2+ years in software development using Big Data technologies, microservices, and event-driven cloud architectures.

• Hands-on experience with Apache NiFi, Kafka, Spark, Hive, HDFS, Oozie, SQL, Python, and Linux Shell scripting.

• Strong database skills: at least one SQL database (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.) and one NoSQL database (MongoDB, HBase).

• Cloud experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure (GCP preferred).

• Solid understanding of Hadoop ecosystems, data warehousing, and real-time data pipelines.

• Familiarity with BigQuery, DataProc, Java SpringBoot is a plus.

• Professional proficiency in English.

• Positive, proactive attitude with strong problem-solving skills.
