Senior Network Lead Engineer

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Network Lead Engineer to join our new and innovative project.

This project focuses on building a fully automated Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) ecosystem, covering the entire technology stack—from underlay infrastructure and OSS/BSS systems to compute components. As a Network Technical Lead, the individual is responsible for setting the technical direction, overseeing network design, and ensuring the quality of automation processes.

Your role

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing and developing a hybrid SDN/NaaS environment (open-source and proprietary),

• Engaging in the full solution lifecycle—from architecture and deployment to operations and optimization,

• Establishing technical direction and ensuring high-quality network automation,

• Leading feature-level planning and technology development,Integrating various automation and orchestration systems/endpoints,

• Tracking progress, managing dependencies, assessing risks, and communicating with stakeholders,

• Ensuring optimal use of technical resources and contributing to performance improvements.

The project delivers full end-to-end automation in near real-time. A core aspect involves intercepting messages from systems like Kafka and Kong, generating device configurations, and deploying them to enable network services. The team is responsible for the entire NaaS stack, excluding the northbound user interface (GUI).

Requirements

• Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with effective verbal and written communication skills

• Extensive hand-on demonstratable experience with core routing technologies (IS-IS, BGP, BGP-LS, SR-TE, SR IGP, PCEP, MPLS-VPNs)

• In-Depth understanding and hand-on experience with Quality of Service (QoS).

• Expertise in developing frameworks for and automating test cases for systems in production

• Experience with data modelling with Yang (with a vendor neutral landscape in mind)

• Solid experience with gRPC, JSON.

• Experience with CICD methodologies (Robot, Gitlab, BDD)

• Open-source software experience and engagement with open-source development practices (e.g. Netbox, gNMIc)

• Understanding of Life-Cycle Management (devices, services, resources)

• Experience with defect management. 

• Software development skills specifically in solving network issues/activities

• English on C1 level

Certificates:Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) and/or Cisco DevNet Expert or equivalent experience.ISTQB Certified Tester Advanced Level – Test Automation Engineer (CTAL-TAE)  or equivalentPCAT - Certified Associate Tester with PythonPCAP - Certified Associate Python Programmer Robot Framework Certified Professional (RFCP) or equivilent

Nice to have

• Expertise in designing, configuring, analysing, integrating and troubleshooting Cisco IOS-XR in a service provider setting.

• Expertise in automating some operational aspects of systems in production

• Specialist knowledge of relevant emerging network/software technologies

• Experience in resolution of customer impacting network issues.

• Experience with Juniper Paragon Automation 

• Experience with Itential (IAP/IAG) expertise
