Senior Data Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer for one of our client:

• A fast-growing global player in the fintech and payments industry, supporting clients across dozens of countries and processing billions of transactions each year.

• Built on a scalable, cloud-native infrastructure with a rich set of APIs that enable rapid deployment of innovative financial products.

• Currently investing heavily in data engineering and data analytics as strategic growth areas.

• Projects focus on:

o Designing and optimizing modern data pipelines to handle large-scale transaction flows.

o Developing advanced analytics platforms to deliver real-time business insights.

o Leveraging transaction data for fraud detection models and risk management.

o Enhancing reporting and BI capabilities to support global expansion and decision making.

Technical skills & experience needed:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering.

• Strong expertise in distributed computing frameworks (Apache Spark, Apache Flink etc.)

• Advanced knowledge of Spark optimisation techniques, including memory management and shuffle optimisation.

• Experience with stream processing using Flink/Spark, including state management and event time processing.

• Strong expertise in modern lakehouse architectures and open table formats (Apache Iceberg, HUDI etc.).

• Advanced expertise in Python, including experience with data processing libraries and API development.

• Strong proficiency in Docker containerisation and Kubernetes orchestration (nice to have).

• Experience with GitOps practices and tools like ArgoCD for continuous deployment.

• Strong proficiency in SQL, including complex query optimisation and performance tuning.

• Demonstrated experience with cloud data platforms, particularly AWS services (EMR, Redshift, Athena, Lake Formation).

• Deep understanding of data warehouse concepts and hands-on experience with Snowflake.

• Experience implementing and maintaining data lakes with proper data governance and Optimisation.

• Proven experience with Apache Airflow for orchestrating complex data pipelines.

• Strong background in streaming data architectures using Kafka and Confluent.

• Proficiency in version control (Git) and CI/CD practices.
