Lead Java Developer

2-3 day per week you need to be available until 9:00 PM for meetings with the US team.

We are looking for Lead Java Developer for our customer- an online marketplace connecting people who want to rent out their homes with people looking for accommodations in specific locales. Together with them, we are building a world-class payments platform that moves billions of dollars, in 191 countries, with 75 currencies, through a complex ecosystem of payments partners. They are also reinventing how to serve users to improve performance, scalability and extensibility. 

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality backend services and APIs using Java (and Kotlin where applicable), ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.

• Build and integrate GraphQL-based services to support product features and improve developer experience.

• Apply growth engineering practices such as A/B testing, funnel analysis, and customer segmentation to inform product and feature decisions.

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams — including product management, design, data science, and other engineering groups — to deliver end-to-end solutions.

• Architect solutions for complex, ambiguous problems that require integration across multiple systems, platforms, and organizational boundaries.

• Ensure code quality and maintainability through best practices in testing, code review, and continuous integration.

• Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, leading initiatives and driving alignment across teams.

• Stay current with industry trends, tools, and technologies to continuously improve development processes and product quality.

And if you possess...

• 6+ years of software development experience

• 3+ years of experience as a Lead

• Proficiency in Java, and familiarity with Kotlin.

• Experience with back-end service development, including GraphQL.

• Familiarity with growth engineering concepts, such as A/B testing, funnel analysis, and customer segmentation.

• Passionate about building great product with high quality

• Proven ability to architect and develop solutions for ambiguous problems and integrations across multiple teams, systems and surface areas.

• Strong communication skills and a track record of leading projects across organizations.

• Eagerness to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams with design, product, data science, and engineering partners.
