Fullstack Developer for AI-Powered R&D Tools in Pharma

We’re looking for a Fullstack Developer to work together with their AI Researcher & Scientist in our partners Drug R&D department

Brief:

The application began as a proof of concept and is evolving toward production maturity. It enables users, primarily pharmaceutical researchers to interact with research papers, ask questions, and gather insights using a custom-built LLM-based solution.

The tool is already used by scientists and researchers, with one active senior AI engineer leading the technical vision. You’ll work alongside him and take responsibility for the development and maintenance of the application stack.

Create AI tools that support pharmaceutical R&D. The tool in question assists researchers navigate and understand scientific literature faster using Large Language Models.

Tasks:

There is an understanding of the feature-set requirements, you will be the person to bring business requirements into business logic.

1. Own fullstack development of the application across backend, frontend, and infrastructure
2. Work closely with the lead AI engineer on feature design, architecture, and technical decision-making
3. Maintain and improve existing systems
4. Proactively address tech debt, stabilize POC-level solutions, and contribute to long-term system health

The technical bits that matter most to you:

Repositories & Top level architecture (5 in total):

1. 3 APIs: User API, LLM API, Embed API
2. Web application
3. Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) repository

1. Python (FastAPI)
2. Golang (also used for testing)
3. Postgres
4. Qdrant

Frontend:

1. RemixJS
2. Tailwind CSS

Infra & DevOps:

1. Terraform (IaC)
2. AWS: VPC, ECS, EC2, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, Lambda, SSM, IAM
3. Docker
4. GCP: Document AI, Buckets
5. Azure: OpenAI integrations

It is important you are able to navigate less mature and non-industrialized systems and having the general know-how in navigating cloud systems.

1. Familiarity with LLMs and other AI/ML concepts is a great plus but not absolutely required
2. Consulting mindset: proactive, communicative, and comfortable engaging directly with non-technical stakeholders
