Akamai's Infrastructure Engineering & Operations organisation builds and maintains Akamai's Platform - one of the world's largest distributed platforms. Our Server Hardware Engineering team is responsible for designing, qualifying, and testing servers destined for our growing network.

Partner with the best

As a Software Engineer, develop, validate, and document BIOS and Firmware for Akamai servers within our expanding network. Collaborate with vendors, evaluate pre-release hardware, and provide input on future product designs. Join a team creating server designs and firmware for a platform with over 300,000 servers across 130 countries.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Developing, building, testing and maintaining firmware

• Creating specifications and design server documentation

• Validating pre-production systems (hardware and firmware)

• Contributing to software and hardware development life cycle from conception to deployment to deliver high quality software solutions

• Collaborating with industry partners and internal teams to design performant, efficient, and reliable computing systems

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have a minimum of 8 years of experience in software or firmware development.

• Hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field

• Have strong proficiency in C, with familiarity in C++ Embedded, Python, and Bash.

• Have solid experience in software development on Linux, including embedded Linux systems.

• Be proficient with Git for version control and collaborative development on large codebases.

• Have a genuine passion for computers, electronics, and hands-on technical problem solving
