Lead Backend Engineer (Java/Kotlin) (m/f/d)

Your Mission

As a Lead Backend Engineer at Adsquare, you will individually contribute to our products in a cross-functional squad, while leading and mentoring a small team of backend engineers.

Your Profile

• You like working with people and have experience on a leadership position.

• You bring excellent communication skills and the willingness to actively mentor your team. 

• You have significant experience with Java or Kotlin.

• Familiarity with Scala, Python and data pipelines is a big plus.

• You have significant experience in building rest-full services using Spring Boot.

• You have significant experience building cloud native solutions in AWS.

• You have a proven track record of delivering backend heavy software projects from prototype to value generating product.

What you will do

• Lead and mentor a team of 4-5 backend engineers (60%):

  • Build an appreciative and trustworthy connection with each of your team members, fostering their growth and well-being.

  • Respond to - and proactively come up with - technology modernization topics with high level of ownership and focus on outcomes.

  • Drive cross-squad standards (such as API design patterns, Observability, etc) ensuring technical consistency across the organization.

• Individually contribute with your backend expertise in a cross-functional squad (40%):

  • Design and build scalable solutions based on Spring Boot ecosystem.

  • Design and build highly scalable solutions in AWS and provision them using Terraform.

  • Work closely with data engineers to help them integrate data processing pipelines into our product value chain.
