Data Engineer in Airline Startup ✈️

Summary: Pre-seed Silicon Valley startup in the airline software space is looking for an experienced data engineer to join as a founding member of the team. 

The company has already signed a contract with the first airline, has a very clear product vision and started building a cutting-edge AI product from grounds up.

At the moment of joining, the team will consist of business-experienced CEO and 4 other members of technical staff - 3x AI engineers and a data analyst, each with 10-20 years of experience in their respective fields and hands-on experience in the airline industry. This is NOT another LLM/agents related startup - its custom AI models built and trained from scratch to solve a real problem.

The team is fully remote, with technical leadership located in Europe.

Compensation:

• 4-5K USD/month, invoiced to US company

• Sizable employee options grant

• Remote work & flexible hours

Main responsibilities:

• Analyzing raw airline data & designing transformations

• Selecting technologies & designing architecture of the whole data platform

• Setting up data ingest pipelines

• Setting up data transformation pipelines

• Implementing integrations with airline services

• Setting up cloud infrastructure in GCP

• Ensuring reliability of the data flow

• Ensuring security of the data storage and processing

Requirements:

• 5 years of data engineering experience

• Availability starting August

• Proficiency with Python

• Experience with GCP

• Experience working independently & making decisions 

• Passion for startups & fast-moving attitude

• Fluent English (writing and speech)

• Availability for meetings in the afternoon 4-7PM CET (when needed, not every day, but at least once a week)

Nice to have:

• Airline domain knowledge/interest

• Availability ASAP

• Direct communication skills - no bullshit :)

• Startup experience

• Experience with IaC (eg Terraform)

• Willingness for occasional travel
