ABOUT THE PROJECT


This role forms part of the Group Risk and Compliance function. Our main objective is to ensure the effective

governance and management of Operational and Resilience Risk. We do this through partnering with the business and providing oversight of processes, risks, and controls. This enables us to constructively challenge the organisation to understand both its

potential and realised impacts from Operational and Resilience Risk events.


Operational Risk (Op Risk) describes any failure regarding our people, processes, systems, and external events that would stop the bank from functioning normally.


Resilience Risk is the risk that we are unable to provide our customers with critical business services in light of a sustained and significant disruption.


YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • With a global remit, the role holder will be a trusted partner to the Commercial Banking (CMB) business, supporting the business in understanding and managing its Resilience risks (with a focus onTechnology, Cyber and Data) within Digital Channels
  • e .g. HSBCNet, Connect, mobile banking.
  • Regular integration with CMB Channels Leadership and
  • Control Owners including attendance at key Governance forums.
  • Provide robust oversight and challenge on material product enhancements that use CMB channel functionality, helping the business to identify and manage Resilience Risks associated with how we transact and offer our end-to-end products and services
  • to customers.
  • Participate in all material change programmes for channel-based services owned by CMB Customer Channels, ensuring that Resilience Risk impacts are identified, well understood and are being proactively managed.
  • Provide oversight of the Channels Resilience risk profile, including risk appetite breaches, operational risk
  • events and material control issues and actions, coordinating with other Risk Stewards and input from Resilience Risk specialists.
  • Conduct and support thematic review activity to ascertain potential weaknesses in the Channels control environment.
  • Provide Independent oversight and opinion on 1LOD management of NFR processes, Risk Management Framework, NFR Executive Scorecard Objectives, and Material Risk Taker process.
  • Some report writing will be required including creation of Risk Maps, Top & Emerging risk reports and Opinion papers for Risk Management Meetings.



SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE REQUIRE

  • Strong risk background in Operational and/or Resilience Risk. Knowledge of Technology and Data
  • risk is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in relevant market/context e.g., Digital within Financial Services. Commercial Banking experience is highly desirable.
  • Good understanding of technology and its application e.g., Web technologies, host to host technologies, APIs, Micro services, Cloud, etc.
  • Ability to operate at a senior level with strong communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
